Layout Animation_2d_(01)

"Layout" in animation generally refers to the process of designing and arranging the visual elements within a scene. It involves creating a blueprint or plan for how the elements will be positioned and animated to achieve the desired look and feel of the final product.

"2D animation" refers to the creation of animation using two-dimensional images, as opposed to three-dimensional models. In 2D animation, the characters and objects are usually drawn by hand or created using digital tools, and then animated using techniques such as keyframing, tweening, or rotoscoping.

The flow chart presented is a rudimentary one, as there are other departments, such as computer-animation and continuity, that collaborate with the ones mentioned. As studios become increasingly expensive to operate, it has become more typical for larger studios to outsource work to smaller ones and freelance artists.

Although this may reduce operating costs, it becomes more challenging to track the progress of each project scene and the risk of losing artwork is amplified. It is not uncommon for films or TV shows to be developed concurrently in various countries and studios.
